History

Dale Cox opened Dale's Pharmacy on the corner of Coles, Dorman, and Shawnee in the early 1960s, moving from it’s original location at the corner of 12th and Offnere. This new location was previously occupied by the Cycle Inn, a popular local restaurant.

In the early 1970’s the pharmacy changed ownership to Dale Kegley. It was at that time that Dale’s Pharmacy changed to Kegley’s Pharmacy, ushering a new era in the history of this pharmacy.

Lee and Leslie Morton bought the store in 1986 and the pharmacy again changed names to Morton's Pharmacy. This would be a second location for the couple. Lee had operated the first store in Sciotoville, OH in 1983. Until the closure of the Sciotoville location in 2001, Lee managed the Sciotoville store and Leslie the Portsmouth location. For the next 13 years, Lee and Leslie would work side by side to grow Morton’s Pharmacy into a staple of the Portsmouth community.

In 2014, Lee and Leslie sold their pharmacy to Brett and Brandilyn Davis. Brett had previously worked for Morton’s Pharmacy as both a delivery boy and later as a Pharmacist. Brandilyn had also, staffed as a Pharmacist on a part-time basis.

Since purchasing the pharmacy in 2014, Brett and Brandilyn has worked to expand services to evolve with the ever-changing world of pharmacy. And their legacy is still going.
